You No Mow

"You will Never Mow Again"

You No Mow designs and fabricates medium to large, self driving, autonomous lawn mowers. With cutting decks from 28  to 50 inches our mowers can cut any lawn from 1/4 to 5 acres. We have 2 electric mowers (E-1 and E-2) and one gasoline powered mower G-1. The following video shows the E-2 in action.

Prototypes

Each, You No Mow autonomous lawn mower has layer on layer of safety features built into the DNA of the machine. The mowers can navigate around trees and spot when people come too close. They are accurate to within 5 cm of their commanded path. The mowers achieve this level of accuracy because they employ  a specialized form of gps known as RTK  gps for navigation. The mowers can store hundreds of mowing missions and you can change between them in seconds. All mowers transmit back to your home site data relating to the health and progress of the mowing mission.  

 

The E-2 will be the first mower that we will bring to market. It  is all electric, super quite and has a 40 inch cutting deck. It can cut up to 2 acres before needing a recharge.

The G-1 will be the second mower that we bring to the  market. Depending on the interest this may remain as a gasoline powered mower or it may be modified to be larger electrically powered.

What trends do we see in the field of autonomy over the last 5 years? There are many that we could mention like drones and indoor vacuums for example. However, the 2 strongest trends that we see in this and related fields are that companies are offering new electrically powered products and that they are smarter than their earlier versions. We see this very clearly from the related, but parallel field of “full sized autonomous cars” . Over the last 5 years they have become more autonomous and there is also a move to become all electric. In the world of mowing there is also a shift towards electric powered mowers and we are just beginning to see the occurrence of fully autonomous mowers as well.

All this innovation has inspired You No Mow to see if we could apply the latest technologies to autonomous lawn mowers . 5 years ago the technology available made this idea complex and very expensive. However with falling cost it has become within the realm of a lot mowing machine owners. Especially those, if you have large areas to keep mowed. You No Mow’s 3 fully functioning prototypes are proof that this can be achieved without selling your home.

You No Mow’s equipment although aimed at the mowing market can be used for other mobile robot project that are required to be accurately positioned.  Whether you want to carry out spraying, elevation survey or precisely locate a security robot our navigation and control equipment can be relied upon.

 

Accuracy 

So can autonomous lawn mowers cut my grass more accurately than a human? Human’s will cut your grass slightly differently every time. The operators often working in unpleasant conditions and bash your expensive mower when cutting around trees. With a You No Mow mower, it will cut your grass, with the same level of accuracy and precision every time. Our mowers are designed so that they can cut lanes to be with an accuracy of 5cm+/-  This is an extraordinary level of accuracy

Safety

The You No Mow autonomous lawn mowers have been designed from the ground up with safety being a main priority. The system includes many safety features to ensure that your mower is always under control. We have built in 10 independent safety features. These include a virtual fence around your mowing site, multiple kill and pause switches, GPS signal quality measures, remote monitoring to mention a few.

Ease of Operation

When you use one of You No Mow’s autonomous lawn mowers you/we will need to need to carry out some one off set up tasks. These include setting up the GPS base station and loading software onto your laptop. We will have already designed your first ‘starter’ mowing mission before you even receive your mower. We can be on hand to take  you through the set up process. In case you want further information the production website will contain ample written and video material plus an extensive operator’s manual.

As the Mower has long range wireless and radio connectivity we can review your whole system remotely and get you going. After each mission, the Mower will send you an email with information about the mission. This can be sent to us for further review.

Once set up it only takes a few minutes to prepare your Mower for a routine mowing mission. This includes switching on your base station, manually driving the mower out of the garage. Waiting a few seconds until the GPS acquires enough satellites. Press Start on the main display screen and the mower with autonomously drive for as long as it takes to complete your mowing task
